New Multi-Sports Park Being Developed at Sawyer County Fairgrounds
Summer will be here soon and the Sawyer County Fair is just around the corner! Exciting things have happened at the fairgrounds as work has begun on the development of a Multi-Sports Park area. Soon, a safety fence and added lighting will complete the project. The area will feature a new 300’ clay pull track, dirt oval track, demolition pit, and mud bog area.
Try something new. Dust off your tractor, old car, or even your lawnmower and consider entering an event!
The new, longer pull track was created to accommodate events such as th Tractor Pull scheduled for Sunday, August 3rd at 11:00. If you have a tractor you would like to enter, contact Ken Schmock at 634-3632 or Randy Riedl at 462-4235 for entry information and rules.
The Midwest Horse Pullers will perform with their teams of draft horses on the pull track as well. They will start at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 2nd.
The demolition derby pit, in the middle of the sports park, and will host Lucky O’Hara’s Demo Derby on Saturday August 2nd at 7:00 p.m. The minimum purse for the derby is $2000 this year! Participants are welcome in all categories: compact cars, full-sized cars and trucks.
As always, all the grandstand events are free of charge with a paid admission to the fair. 2008 admission prices are: $15 for a season pass, $5 for daily admission until 5:00pm, $10 for daily admiission from 5:00pm-Close, Children 5 and under are free. $5 all day Sunday.
Again in 2008 there will be the stock car demo derby called Poorman’s Racing and Demolition. For rules and more information, contact Karen Metcalf at 634-3393.
